Let's allow Begha U Tiv to serve the LORD

Let’s allow Begha U Tiv to serve the LORD he and his family choose to serve.

A facebook user Linus Hagher is now come out to tell the Benue Family That, Let’s allow Begha U Tiv to serve the LORD. This is in view of the uproar about the presence of a Church within the Premises of the Tor Tiv Palace in Gboko.

Concerned Benue citizens started pouring out theirs minds after pictures from the ongoing work at the Tor Tiv Palace surfaced. Pictures which shows the presence of a Church within the Tiv Kingdom Tradditional home.

Many are of the opinion that the situation of the Church at the TOR-Tiv Palace which is an embodiment of the Ark of God will cause the eviction/Eradication of the SWEM in the Palace.

The SWEM symbolically represents the Tiv Traditional religion, culture and tradition through which the Tiv ancestral spirits are invoked when Tiv as a people need to the help of the ancestors especially when going into war against an adversary or when seeking a help from the ancestors.

Comments from facebook and most social media platforms shows the New Tor-Tiv Palace has become a worry for the compatibility and congruity of the SWEM and the Church.

Mr. Linus Hagher‘s post on facebook about the matter got Bliss Naija’s attention so we decided to share. He wrote;

An African Traditional Ruler must not be an adherent of African Traditional Religion. He can be a devout Christian or even a clergy. The case of the current Tor Tiv, Orchivirgh James Ortese Ayatse is a good example.

There is no place in the law where it is stated that African Traditional Rulers must be fetish, idol worshippers, enmeshed in witchcraft, sorcery and other practices like belief in a supreme creator or force (beyond God), belief in spirits, veneration of the dead, use of magic and traditional African medicine etc.

The scripture says in Joshua 24:15(ESV) that “And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Let’s allow Begha U Tiv to serve the LORD he and his family choose to serve. For those who want to worship pieces of wood, grasses, water bodies, metals and other objects which our forefathers venerated and sacrificed human blood to but still nothing to show in our land, go ahead.Stop taking capital of the worship house built in the palace of our paramount ruler for cheap politics. Se fa kwagh shawon man ape tar u lu zan kpa se fa ga. Akaa a hemban doon se mba kpishiu ka pati u ibume, an iyuhe, kua ijimbagh, man ifer.
